Dear Brian,
I have had schizophrenia since 1976. I have been on several
drugs...Prolixin, Lithium, Benadril. cogentin. Mobane. Thorazine, haldol.
and some I've forgotten.
In March of 89, Dr. Pelonero of The Medical College of Virginia (MCV)
put
me on Clozaril (Clozapine). I was the first in VA to be on it and one
of
the first in the USA. I am now concentrating better, NO voices,
NO
hallucinations (Visual or auditory) Limited side
effects...hypersalivation, weight gain.
I am currently a Senior at Old Dominion University in Norfolk,VA.
I am
pursuing a Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, with an emphasis
in
Therapeutic Recreation. I will graduate sometime in Spring of
98. Sometimes
I can watch TV, read a book, and carry on a conversation all at once!!!
(That's sometimes!)
I have a grade point average of 3.63 out of 4.0. I thank
God every night
with 300mg of Clozaril orally.
PS I'm driving to college every day.....40 minutes each way. Last
May, I
drove 400 miles each way to visit relatives in PA by myself!!!!
Thanks, Wayne Keafer
