I was on Risperdal way back for a short time, sexaul side effects made me go off of it. Currently I am on 200 mg of Geodon and it seems to be going quite well.

Yeah I have bad sexual side effects, low energy and increased appetite from Risperdal. I'm hoping the switch to Geodon will solve a lot of problems. I have to pick up my first prescription of it Monday.

I have taken both drugs. Not really transition between the two because there was a huge gap of time when I went from one pill to another, but Geodon is definately better than Risperdal in my opinion. Just because for me Risperdal had intollerable weight gain and Geodon is supposed to be weight-neautral.

A couple years ago I did the switch from risperdal consta, the shot, to geodon... I never realized the extent of the side effects of risperdal until I was off of it!! After the switch my prolaxin levels evened out and I got my period back... I had a lot more energy on geodon and 85lbs melted off rather quickly!! ( I had gained 100lbs while on risperdal)

Geodon helped with symptoms. I also found if I took it at 7pm I would sleep well, as long as I took it with food. I am off of geodon now and on abilify. Unfortunately TD symptoms appeared and I was sleeping so soundly I did not wake for my kids in the night when they called me.

But... Abilify is working even better than the geodon. I have even more energy and depression is not an everyday thing. I am having some limb cramping but I don't know if it's related to the abilify. I also sleep less but am not tired all the time. Another ugg thing is that I haven't lost any weight on the abilify... haven't gained but haven't lost really either...

Good luck witht he switch!! I think geodon is a great med!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone. I thought I was starting it Monday but I guess we had to call in the prescription then. Maybe I can pick it up today and start tomorrow, not sure, but I look forward to the switch and getting rid of the Risperdal side effects. :)

Risperdal withdrawal can be a pain, I feel a bit weird. The constant hunger and low energy has gone away since switching to Geodon. I'm taking half a pill of Risperdal with it for one more week then it's just Geodon from then on.

me. I was on resperidone and my doctor transitioned me to Geodon. I don't know if it was the drug but my motivation semed to go away and I also experienced tiredness which I didn't have on resperidone so my doctor put me back on resperidone only. I was on prolixen before either of those, for more than 20 years and went from 190 lbs. to 263 but it wsn't the drug because I was fine for about 18 years. When I was on resperidone, I lost 60 lbs.
