Join Me, Kristin Bell, In Schizophrenia Research Participation!

I wanted to let you all know that I recently found out about a research project funded by the National Institute of Mental Health through the site here at schizophrenia.com and I am hoping that any of you out there who might qualify for the research study will join me in being a research participant. I am going to be documenting as much of my journey through the research process as I can, so stay tuned for further videos!

In the following video I talk about the benefits of volunteering for research and a little bit about what the research will be like. My whole family is going to be involved, so I'm going to try to get them in the video, but they are very camera shy, so it will be a major accomplishment if you get to view them!

I originally made this video for my YouTube channel. Anyway, I hope you will consider joining me in this fight to find out more about schizophrenia so someday no one will have to suffer! Our participation is very important!

Kristin, good luck with the research. Could you possibly check with the sz administrator about getting the parents' discussion board back up? No one has been able to post since 12/1. Thank you!

I commend you for your dedication to research. This is a difficult task as the word "research" sends images of the Frankenstein laboratory atmosphere. I know this is not what happens but....
My son has expressed interest in being involved in any type of research that will end his struggle with this disease. I will give him this information and see if he's interested. Again - thank you so much for what you are doing!

I would cancel. And here is why. the more the voices know how you think and about your mind, the more they play with you. Hallucinations, pain, etc..

Have you ever had pain from them? I did right after I went and it was for 10 months and still on going.

Before that, I had 5 months of nothing. I just went because I was curious.

It's your call. That's all I know.

They wer quite nice there though and it was fun. But I consider it an oops.

But, I was rewarded by them with words and writing ability.

Hi Kirstin,
thank you for the information.
I am not an American citizen but I found your video interesting to watch anyway.
Keep up the good work.
I look forward to more of your videos.
I also saw your first video introducing yourself.
I told some other people in the chat room about you and your videos.
I would be interested to hear more about how you deal with negative symptoms, like apathy, lack of energy, lack of emotions, etc. You seem quite expressive so maybe youre doing well in this department. I do also quite well compared to what I have seen. Are you able to get up in the morning easily? How many hours do you sleep?
Do you have energy for sports and hobbies other than making videos. Do you have a sexual drive also or is it zapped by the meds? Do you feel happyness and emotions and physical excitability like before the illness?
Maybe if you can talk about these questions?
Best regards,
Deutsch

I went through 5 years of morning really depressed or sick to my stomache til 10am. yuck.

I had no energy for anything on the meds. Felt like a watcher.

I went off for a year. It was great and not so great too.

I'm back on them and feel not as good, when I felt good, but I'm hoping to get some peace.

Sex is good. But I have to just ask for my hubby and then it is good. But I really have no desire,, until I ask.

Heppyness is there. I'm on Abilify now.

Brenda: my personal blog site does not get a whole lot of hits each day, but I feel lucky that anyone stops by, so it is all good! :) It gets way more than I ever thought it would!
